On the afternoon of March 18th, the 71st meeting of the APEC Energy Working Group (EWG71) opened in Nanchang. Representatives from the APEC Secretariat and member economies, various research centers, expert groups, and task groups under the Energy Working Group, as well as observers from relevant international organizations gathered in Nanchang to conduct in-depth discussions on topics such as high-quality universal energy services, the integrated development of artificial intelligence and energy innovation, and collaborative governance of energy in the Asia-Pacific region, jointly drawing a new blueprint for energy cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
This meeting is a high-level professional conference in the energy field under the APEC framework and also the first time that Nanchang has hosted an international energy event of this scale. The meeting focused on three priority directions: “High-quality and Universal Energy Services”, “Artificial Intelligence + Energy”, and “Collaborative Governance of Energy in the Asia-Pacific Region”. It conducted in-depth discussions on the implementation results of existing initiatives and the design of the outcomes for the 2026APEC China Year, exchanged views candidly, and laid a solid foundation for reaching consensus and achieving results in the energy field for the 2026APEC China Year.
